How Sensible Works
Sensible has three main components that work together: a Chrome extension, a backend, and a parent dashboard.
The flow
Child chats with AI → Extension captures it → Backend analyzes it → Parent sees it on dashboard
1. Chrome extension captures conversations
When your child sends a message to an AI assistant (like Claude or ChatGPT), the Sensible extension intercepts the API traffic in the browser. It captures:
- What your child typed (the prompt)
- What the AI responded
- Which platform it was on
- When it happened
The extension sends this data to the Sensible backend.
2. Backend analyzes for safety
The backend receives the conversation and runs it through AI-powered safety analysis. This analysis checks for concerning content like:
- Self-harm or suicide references
- Violence or threats
- Sexual content
- Illegal activities
- Cyberbullying
- Personal information sharing
Each conversation gets a severity level: none, low, medium, high, or critical. If something is flagged, an alert is created for you.
3. Parent dashboard shows everything
You can log into your dashboard at getsensible.app to:
- View conversations — See what your child asked and what the AI said
- Check alerts — Review flagged conversations sorted by severity
- Manage children — Add/remove children, generate link codes
- Control devices — See connected devices, revoke access, check activity status
What gets stored

What does NOT happen
- Your child's conversations are not used to train AI models
- Your data is not sold to anyone
- Your data is not used for advertising
- Nobody at Sensible reads your conversations (unless you contact support about a specific issue)

Sensible is built with:
- Chrome Extension (Manifest V3) — captures conversations
- Next.js Dashboard — parent-facing web app
- Supabase — database, authentication, and edge functions
- Anthropic Claude — powers the safety analysis
