What Your Child Sees

Sensible is designed to be transparent. Your child will see indicators that monitoring is active. Here's exactly what they'll see.

Extension popup

When your child clicks the Sensible icon in Chrome's toolbar, they see:

Sensible Active

Your parent has set up Sensible to help keep you safe online.

What this means:

  • Your AI conversations (like with Claude) in THIS Chrome profile are shared with your parent
  • Your parent may receive alerts about certain topics
  • This helps your parent understand how you're using AI
  • Other Chrome profiles on this computer are NOT monitored

Questions? Talk to your parent about why they set this up.

Persistent indicator

When the extension is active and linked, a small badge appears in the lower right corner of supported AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Character.AI). Your child can also click the extension icon at any time to see that monitoring is active and which profile it's connected to.

Why transparency matters

  • Children ages 10-17 deserve to know they're being monitored
  • Transparent monitoring builds trust
  • It satisfies COPPA's direct notice requirements
  • It encourages open conversations between you and your child

The language is designed to be age-appropriate, informational, and non-coercive.
