Data Retention
Sensible retains your data only as long as needed. Here's our retention policy.
Retention periods
| Data type | How long | What happens after |
|---|---|---|
| Conversations | 90 days | Automatically deleted |
| Alerts | 90 days | Automatically deleted |
| Account data | Until you delete your account | Deleted on request |
| Child profiles | Until you delete them | All associated data removed |
| Device records | Until revoked or account deleted | Token invalidated |
Automatic cleanup
Conversations and alerts older than 90 days are automatically removed. You don't need to do anything — this happens in the background.
Manual deletion
You can delete data at any time:
- Revoke a device — Stops future data collection from that device. Historical data is kept for the 90-day period.
- Delete a child profile — Removes the profile and all associated conversations, alerts, and device records immediately.
- Delete your account — Removes everything. Contact hello@getsensible.app and the process completes within 30 days.
What's NOT retained
- Raw API traffic from the Chrome extension (only the parsed prompt/response is stored)
- Conversation text sent to the safety analysis AI (Anthropic does not store it)
- Browsing history, cookies, or non-AI-conversation data
Why 90 days?
90 days gives you enough time to:
- Review recent conversations
- Notice patterns over time
- Follow up on alerts
But it doesn't keep data indefinitely, which protects your child's privacy. If you need to save a specific conversation, copy the text before it expires.
